The Chair of FK
Our Dear Presiding Bishop
The Lay President
Past and Present Bishops
Past and Present Ministers of the Church
Distinguished Invited Guests
Brothers and Sisters in Christ
Grace and peace of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ to you all. I bring you special greetings from the Connexional Executive Committee and the entire membership of the Association of Methodist Men’s Fellowships in the Connexion.
By the divine mercies of God, we have been ushered into a new year, 2018; and to enable us unearth the opportunities and overcome the challenges ahead, we need to build our spiritual capacity from just casual relationship to quality fellowship with God; that is Fellowship of loyalty and commitment to our Maker.
We strongly believe that this year’s retreat (Fellowship of the Kingdom) is geared towards the building of the spiritual capacity of our Ministers to enable them lead and guide the flock in the Methodist Church Ghana in 2018. It is our prayer that this year’s retreat will deepen your faith and enhance your leadership qualities to enable you sustain the gains of your discipleship over the years, in line with the years’ theme.
The core of our calling as either Ministers of the Gospel or lay evangelist is to be effective witnesses in the Lord’s vineyard. Certainly, we need to continue the good works of the early disciples, we therefore need the direction, teaching, influence, among others, of the Holy Spirit to lead us.
The Association of Methodist Men’s Fellowships is ready to collaborate with the leadership of the Church to sustain its gains. The Association’s focus is on how best to project the Men’s Ministry towards the growth of the Church. The Association requires the support of the leadership of the Church and the entire Clergy as follows:
- To fully support the activities and programmes of the Men’s Fellowships in order to revive dormant Branches in the societies and increase membership.
- To fully support the Men’s Day programme instituted by the Church (on the Almanac) to raise funds for the continuation of the Methodist Retreat Centre project at Kwadaso in Kumasi.
We are so grateful to the Presiding Bishops and Administrative Bishops who always write letters to remind the Diocesan Bishops about the Men’s Day Celebration every year. Some Bishops (Tema, Somanya) and Superintendent Ministers (Accra Calvary, Tema St. Paul’s) also need our commendation for their unflinching support.
Brethren, Completion of the Methodist Retreat Centre project spearheaded by the Men’s Fellowship for the Methodist Church Ghana has delayed over the years because of our inability to raise enough funds during our Men’s Day Celebrations. We are pleading with those who do not celebrate the day to change the game plan this year. Those who use the second collection approach should also do well to revise their strategies to raise more funds. We are counting on you all as partners and collaborators towards the early completion of the Methodist Retreat Centre Project. Please you all need to find time and visit the project site to see what the Men’s Fellowship is doing to support the Church. Completion of this project will go a long way to host retreats, conferences, meetings in the Church. In collaboration with the Freeman Center, a programme such as the FK could be organized there. So far, amount mount of about GHS 130,000.00 realized during 2017 Men’s day have been pumped to the 4th phase of the project. that is, structural works on the 3rd floor of the dormitory block. We have been able to complete 3no. 4 room chalets, the 800 seater Auditorium, Canteen and Resturant.
Presiding Bishop, distinguished invited Guests, participants of this year’s Fellowship of the Kingdom, I wish to assure you that the Men’s Fellowship will continue to work with you to advance the cause of the Church.
May the good Lord empower all our Ministers to enable them shepherd the various Dioceses, Circuits and Societies they serve to the glory of God.
May you have a spirit filled and a very successful FK
Thank you very much.
(Bro. George Opare-Baidu)
