The second day of the 10th Biennial Delegates’ Conference of the Association of the Methodist Men’s Fellowships was focused on formal opening, business, elections and quiz. The Conference was very colorful and interactive. Delegates were not only thrilled and enthused about the reports, progress and initiatives but also elected new Executives to manage the Connexion. The day started with a powerful devotion s led by the Connexional Chaplain , Very. Rev. Nana Apau Gyekye preached on the theme ‘Ebenezer’. The welcome courtesies and fraternal messages all touched on active evangelism through Stewardship and Discipleship.
Prayer sessions were dedicated to reviving the church and her mandate in transforming society. In his Devotions, Very. Rev. Nana Apau Gyekye referred to his family historical background and how God had transformed them from a fetish background into the saving grace of Christ. This is truly how God has brought them , he declared. He inspired the Delegates that despite all the challenges they go through, they shall have their “Ebenezer”. The only condition was to remain faithful in the Lord.
The Rt. Rev. Dr. Paul K. Boafo, The Administrative Bishop who delivered the Special Guest of Honour’s Address on behalf of The Most Rev. Titus K. Awotwi Pratt, Presiding Bishop, stressed on the fact that the Men must mobilize their gain through members to expand the kingdom of Christ. He said our percentage in the total church statistics must be improved. He emphasized that, the Men’s projects and contributions had really sustained the growth of the church. He encouraged the men to continue to support God’s work.
The Lay President , Bro. Bernard Kwasi Botwe emphasized on the need to spread our efforts throughout the country. This effort he said must be an integrated approach by all stakeholders. He linked the two challenges of the Men’s on ageing membership and financial viability. He encouraged the Men to attract the young men in the church to bring active vibrancy into the Association. He encouraged those with established businesses to employ or support the growing generation to keep our men active in the church.
The Benin Delegates presented a wonderful package to the Immediate Past Chairman, Bro. Hayford Asare Bekoe as part of their appreciations for the warm gesture and support in developing their Fellowships in Benin. They were excited about the organization and orderliness of the conference procedures. They indicated their readiness to work together as partners in the Men’s Fellowship. Other fraternal messages were delivered with donations to support the conference.
The Conference raised funds to support the Health Facility at Aowin-Kwawu in the Tarkwa Diocese. The target was to raise Ghc 21,000 ghc to help roof the Administrative and Clinic units of the facility. The Connexional Chairman, Bro. George Opare Baidu, in his address appealed to Conference to support the clinic as Men of the Church. Cash donations and pledges were collected to achieve this dream. The Formal opening ended with a vote of thanks from the Vice Chairman and prayers lead led by The Administrative Bishop.
