The Association of Methodist Men’s Fellowships honoured two of their heroes who have served the Methodist Church and the Men’s Fellowship in so many ways. Bro. Timothy Osam-Duodo and Bro. Winfred Hayford Acheampong were proudly honored at the 3rd Annual Koomson/Ackah/Enchia Memorial Lectures. The beautiful and insightful lectures was delivered by the Hon. Joe Ghartey the MP for Essikado and the Minister for Railways development.
The lectures took place at the Wesley Methodist Cathedral, Sekondi on Saturday 21st July 2018. About 600 Delegates from the Men’s Fellowship attended the event. This year’s lectures focused on the theme “Elimination of corruption in the Ghanaian society through effective stewardship”. The lectures and honouring service was graced with the presence of many top-ranking dignitaries from the Ordained Ministry and the Laity of the Church.
Mr. Timothy Osam-Duodo served as the Conference member from 1981 to date. He introduced Men’s Fellowship to the Sunyani Diocese in 1981. His commitment to the Lay Movement has been extraordinary. He was the Vice President of Conference and the National Chairman of the Lay Movement. He contrinuted to the production of two historic books of the Church. The Lay@60 and the Men’s @ 30. He is a founding Director of Donewell Insurance Company. He has been a Vice President of Boys’ Brigade Ghana, a member of Board of Governors for Ghana National College, Swedru Seconday School and Chairman for the Swedru school of business. He is a stateman, presiding member of the Agona District Assembly and currently Chairman for the Board of Nyakrom Rural Bank Limited. Mr. Osam-Duodo is married to Mrs. Juliana Osam-Duodo and they have four children. He is indeed an asset of the Church, a leader, stateman, a committed Christian and a devoted family man. We are also proud of him as a great Grandpa to the Men’s Fellowship.
Bro. Winfred Hayford Acheampong was also honoured for his outstanding performance. Services and great work done at the Diocesan level. He inaugurated 10 societies, four (4) circuits and choked so many successes during his tenure as a servant of the Fellowship. All the celebrants were joined by their families to grace the occasion. The beautiful event attracted other organizational representatives, the Church and friends to witness the event.
To mark the event, the Hon. Joe Ghartey delivered an excellent lecture and touched on the following:
- What we are doing as Christians to eliminate corruption
- We should not corrupt our children
- We should not gather material gains as our treasure
- Faith in the dealings with God is a key to our survival
- God in his wisdom will cater for all his children
- We all must play our part in elimination all forms of corruption
Members who attended the event were greatly inspired, educated and encouraged to work hard for Church and Society, stay pure and incorruptible and do our best to shape society with integrity, honesty and true Christian principles.
